Circuits session tonight: Although it was a nice easy session that consisted of 3 sets of:
Push ups
Sit ups
Crunchies
Back raises
Burpees
The 4 planks(Front, back, left side, right side)

Although this was by far, the easiest session I had done in weeks, last night's session was still affecting me as I was still tired and aching! didn't really help that I had my short shorts on and had to pull my boxers down to avoid having one of those Janet Jackson moments! Tomorrow will be a day of rest at last, even though the half six start will probably still kill me and I'll be like "whoa!"

Monday 6th May 2013

Okay so it's officially back to summer training for us athletes so hopefully all the long endurance and core strength work I done over the winter will now pay off for the speed runs that will be happening over the next 6 months. Last night, the session was timed runs that Coach Forsyth set. The times were:
300:48 seconds
250: 42 seconds
200: 36 seconds
150:26 seconds
100:16 seconds

All with a jog back recovery!! Felt that the next morning! Ouch!
Fitness wise, I felt quite comfortable doing this session, as I felt fit enough to lead the group, plus made it to the finish line in time on all but one occasion so I was pleased with myself!

Let's see what tomorrow brings! Circuits hopefully!

Although it looks like this session lasted forever and was a mix of boxing and circuit sessions, truth is: I enjoyed doing this session. The cardio exercises did eventually tire me out, especially the "Cardio fast feet", felt like I was Fred Astaire! 45 seconds is a long time, especially if you have two bits of wet string (figuratively of course) But. thats's my circuits session is complete for this week, here's hoping I can improve my strength for next week's session, whatever it may be!

Sunday 28th April 2013

So yeah, at Pitreavie Stadium in Pitreavie(NO WAY,REALLY?) on Sunday to compete for The Nothern Premier Youth Development League, previously known as the Junior League. This allows athletes that fit in the age groups of Under 20 to compete against teams from the UK, however, athletes that fit in the Under 17 age group are now eligible to enter, either as a guest or for the more popular events, in their own age groups. The teams that competed in this competition were: Team Forth Valley(My teams as well as a hybrid of Falkirk Victoria Harriers,Central AC, Lothian AC and Livingston AC), Wakefield D. H. & AC, City of Sheffield AC, Leeds City AC, Kingdom Athletics & South of Humber. Weather conditions weren't terrible, but weren't ideal. Chilly high winds with light sprinkles of rain meant that many blankets were worn, though warm spells of sunshine did happen and were greeted with much gusto.

But, now, for business, or rather, pleasure: My races for that day were: 100m, 400m Hurdles, and the two relays. Now, I am only a sprinter, so in reality, I should only be training for one of these events, so to have the likes of hurdles is not really beneficial This showed in my results, the fact that I was last in both my 100m and 400m Hurdles doesn't bother me so much, but the time for my 100 does!! 13.20!! Mortified. People tried to soften the blow for me but I felt disappointed all day, thinking that I'm not cut out to be a sprinter. Now that I look back, I can see I was being harsh, and everyone needs a bad time to work from to improve. Highlight of the day was: swapping the 4x400 relay for the 2k Steeplechase! Me and the S/C go way back, as every year, I would go to my coach and volunteer for it as simply, no-one wanted to do it! Now he knows that, it's been rumoured I'm doing it for all 4 matches! The photo basically sums up my jumping technique for all wooden hurdles, it's quite refreshing actually, once you forget your legs are soaking! And I got a personal best, shrunk it to 8 minutes and 55 seconds!! woop woop!
